The Better World Workshop (BWW) was founded by Carl Bielenberg in Baffousam, Cameroon in 1978, and in Calais, Vermont in 1986. BWW’s mission is to identify opportunities for achieving economic development through invention, with a focus on application in rural Africa.

Carl is also the founder of Gazogen, a company dedicated to the development, manufacture, and sale of biomass fueled co-generation plants in New England, USA and Africa.

Carl and his colleague and wife, Felicity Lodge, are both members of SLN’s Core Team.
